Arranging with Love: Flower Farmer Jeanette Bell

We’ve been purchasing flowers from Jeanette Bell of Bell Floricultural Services for a while now, so it only made sense to ask her to create our wedding floral arrangements. It’s always such a joy visiting Jeanette at her Fleur d’Eden Garden in Central City. Filled with organically grown flowers and herbs, it’s a literal highlight of any day whether it’s sunny, rainy, or cold. We swear her vibrant arrangements last the longest.

We got married in late September and asked Jeanette to create a few arrangements, the bouquet, and the boutonnière with her seasonal blooms. Since we’re regular customers we knew they’d be fantastically beautiful and fit seamlessly into our backyard wedding decor. Each arrangement was created with incredible detail and love. Jeanette’s passion and enthusiasm for flowers is infectious and made our ceremony brighter and more memorable.

A Little About Jeanette Bell

Jeanette bought the lot for the Fleur d’Eden garden and had grown almost 400 roses before Hurricane Katrina hit. Today, the garden is flourishing and adding an abundance of color to the block. She also manages two urban farms (Garden on Mars) in the 9th Ward where she grows vegetables, herbs, and flowers. In addition to growing, Jeanette provides free horticultural classes. With over 40 years in the garden, Jeanette is a true New Orleans botanical gem.
