We’re a lil’ family of Black southerners nurturing ourselves and a small plot of land in New Orleans.

Black People with Plants came about in 2016 during the beginning of our plant journey. As research enthusiasts we’ve spent hours learning about plants and their ways of being. In this research, we noticed how few non-white in particular Black and Indigenous people were included in histories, publications, and beyond. When we did find them their narratives were white-washed, skimmed over and watered down. The breadth of our connection with plants has and continues to be erased.

Now it’s incredibly beautiful to see so many of us embracing plant parenthood, plants as medicine, and just spending more time in nature. Since starting this blog the world is full of more insights and stories from Black people and their connections to plants. How nourishing! We hope to continue to be part of the Black people with plants revolution.

During the day (and sometimes nights) we run a creative studio, Collection of Collections. Black People with Plants is a passion project.
